126 languages, and counting

Taiwanese Hokkien and Hakka are full translation languages now, written in the Han characters Taiwan actually uses rather than in romanisation. Two things are worth knowing before you switch one on.

• Voice notes still arrive as Chinese. Speech recognition for these two is not good enough to trust yet — it comes back reading perfectly well while quietly changing what was said, and you would have no way to tell. So we do not do it. Typed messages are unaffected.
• They use about three and a half times as much of your allowance. Both need a stronger model, so one Taiwanese or Hakka message draws roughly 1,250 tokens where an ordinary message draws 350 — about 80 of them in a Free month, 3,100 on Personal Pro, or 9,500 shared on Group Pro. On Pay-as-you-go that is about NT$0.08 a message instead of NT$0.02.
